The Urban Winery

We've take wine masterclasses and removed the stiffness and wine wankery. A series of sessions hosted by Dan Sims and Mike Bennie. Delivered in the round Dan and Mike will pour whilst they talk introducing you to wine and many of our Festival winemakers in a way only these two can deliver. From which wines to smash at barbie to Pinot Palooza unplugged there is a wine and session for everyone's tastes.

Pinot Palooza: UnPlugged

You may have heard of the country’s biggest Pinot party, so we’re stoked to have the founder, Dan Sims, on hand for a special ‘unplugged’ NFWS version. Wine maestro Mike Bennie join in to help conduct proceedings and navigate your way for a fun, friendly, and not remotely scary pinot party.

The Butcher, The Brewer, The Booze Maker

Everything delicious started off as a slightly less delicious, raw ingredient. Get to know these raw ingredients, such as rare-breed meat, hops and sugar cane, and explore the ways in which they are turned into something very, very delicious.

Sparkling Darling

Seaside Wines and Seafood

White wine is an obvious match for most fish, but what should you pair with salmon? Do the same wines work with raw seafood and cooked? The perfect session for seafood fans after some wine-and-fish tips from our best seaside regions.

Bangers and Smash

When it comes to picking a wine to drink at a barbecue, do you choose white or red? Light or full-bodied? This session looks at wines that are highly drinkable and infinitely smashable from all over Australia, perfect for pairing with anything from grilled salmon and salad to burnt snags and sauce.

Where the Wild Wines Are

There’s more to Australian wines these days than Shiraz or Sauvignon. This session explores all the wonderful, weird and wacky new-wave wines produced all around the country, including varieties that are more than a mouthful to say.
