We love food, we love wine, and we also love cocktails here at NIFW.
At this year’s Festival, six of Australia’s leading bartenders competed in the National Final of the Club Suntory Seasoned Cocktail Making Competition held under the stunning Qantas Beach Marquee on Noosa’s Main Beach.
Diners dug their feet into the sand, relaxed with an innovative cocktail and helped judge the National Final of this exciting competition which also extended into the evening with the Suntory Cocktail Matching Dinner event.
Jeremy Shipley wowed the crowds with his Bison Five -O cocktail, coming first place in the Australia wide competition. Congratulations also extends to Joe Worthington in second position and and Ben Blair third, both from NSW.
Jeremy says “For me, creating a cocktail or fancy drink is a real creative outlet. I love cooking and working with food.”
Jeremy Shipley’s Bison Five-O recipe
- 60ml Zubrowka
- 30ml Fresh lemon juice
- 30ml Five-o spice syrup (made from cinnamon, grated ginger, star anise, cloves, and pepper corns with sugar syrup)
- 90ml Ginger Beer
Garnish: Blackberries on skewer
Method: Place ingredients in tall glass and build over ice. Top with ginger beer and stir vigorously with bar spoon.
